The Kitaya House, a nationally designated important cultural property located on the Hokkoku Kaido road in Nonoichi City, retains the streetscape of the Edo period. It is said that the family ran an oil shop in Nonoichi from the mid-Edo period onward, and later became a sake brewery, operating until around 1975. In 2022, the sake "Shōjō," which was once brewed there, was revived after about half a century. It is a delicious sake.
