Nonoichi in Ishikawa Prefecture is a town famous for its camellias. There is a variety of camellia called "Nonoichi" that originated in Nonoichi.

Apparently, the very pale pink color of the flowers is called "Toki color."

This camellia has a delicate pink hue floating on its white petals.

I paint without knowing at all what the finished picture will look like.

In other words, the painting itself determines its direction, but no other painting has progressed by constantly destroying the structure of the painting as much as "Tsubaki Nonoichi".

Normally, I would stop, gaze at the painting intently, and then follow its progression, but I didn't have that luxury; I had no choice but to keep drawing.

Because the paintings changed so rapidly.

When I saw the picture in the frame, my initial reaction of "I don't understand it" changed to "What a mysterious and beautiful camellia it is."
