This is a beach in Waikiki, Honolulu. I used to think that all the beaches along the ocean in Waikiki were Waikiki Beach, but apparently, the area to the right of the Kahanamoku statue with its arms outstretched is Kuhio Beach, and the area to the left is Waikiki Beach. I had no idea until now. Both beaches are sandy, but originally they were rocky beaches, just like the beaches on the North Shore, and the sand was brought in from somewhere else. Palm trees, which give the beaches a tropical feel, were also planted there.

Kuhio Beach has a breakwater, so the waves are calm.

I wondered how sandy beaches are formed in nature, and I painted the gently lapping waves and the shadows of palm trees spreading a tropical paradise across the shore. The blue sky rose higher and higher.
