Aloha Tower is a lighthouse and clock tower built in 1926 as the gateway to Hawaii by sea. Back in 1948, when the song "The Dream of Hawaiian Voyage" was a huge hit, traveling to Hawaii by ship was commonplace and a dream for ordinary people. Nowadays, you land at Honolulu Airport by plane and smell the hibiscus flowers. A leisurely boat trip also sounds nice.

Adjacent to Aloha Tower is the "Aloha Tower Marketplace," which houses a variety of restaurants. Decades ago, when I lived in Hawaii, I remember ordering a dark beer at a craft beer restaurant and gazing at the ocean. Nowadays, there are many craft beer shops in Japan as well, but back then they were quite rare.

After days of being tossed about on a ship, the joy of finally seeing this clock tower must have been extraordinary. "Ah, I've finally made it to Hawaii," they must have thought.

As for me, every time I see Aloha Tower, I remember the dark beer I drank there.
