 A small church stands quietly in Manoa Valley, surrounded by greenery. It's a church for orphaned children and is managed by a Christian charity called the Solvation Army. Some time ago, or rather, several decades ago when I was painting in Hawaii, the Solvation Army was producing a poster on the theme of the future of children, and I was one of several artists who contributed a painting.

 The stonework and stained glass of the Waioli Chapel possess a captivating charm. While the resulting image is very powerful, the calming green wooden frame and white mat effectively balance the space.
